Eicher Motors Ltd. reported Royal Enfield total motorcycle sales (domestic + exports) for August 2021 and the company's volumes stood at 45,860 units. The manufacturer registered a nine per cent decline in volumes when compared to 50,144 units sold in August 2020. The bike maker's domestic sales last month stood at 39,070, witnessing a decline of 18 per cent over 47,571 units sold during the same period last year. Meanwhile, the company saw a major spike in exports that jumped by 164 per cent to 6,790 in August this year, from 2,573 units a year before.

The sub-350 cc motorcycle range continues to drive the volumes for Royal Enfield

Royal Enfield's major volumes continued to come from the 350 cc segment in August 2021 with the Classic 350 and the Meteor 350 leading the charge. The motorcycle maker sold 38,572 units in this space, registering a decline of 16.79 per cent when compared to 46,357 units sold in August 2020. On the other hand, the company sold 7288 units in the 350 cc and above segment with a 92.45 per cent growth, as opposed to 3787 units sold during the same period a year before.

With respect to year-to-date growth, Royal Enfield reported a sale of 213,538 units between April and August 2021. The company witnessed an uptick in volumes with a 45 per cent year-on-year growth. In comparison, the company sold 147,747 units between April and August 2020.

Moving forward, Royal Enfield has kicked off September with a bang. The company launched the new-generation Classic 350 priced from Rs. 1.84 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai). The all-new offering is the second model to be built on the J platform and gets plenty of upgrades on the engineering and feature front. Bookings for the new Classic 350 are now open.
