Two-Wheeler Sales July 2021: Honda Sales Grow 20 Per Cent Year-On-Year

- In July 2020, Honda had despatched 3,21,583 two-wheelers
- In June 2021, Honda registered sales of 2,34,029 two-wheelers
- Honda is getting ready to launch the Honda NX200 adventure bike in India
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) registered total sales of 3,85,533 units in July 2021, an almost 20 per cent increase year-on-year. In July 2020, the company had despatched 3,21,583 units. Honda's domestic two-wheeler sales accounted for 3,40,133 units, while exports accounted for 45,400 units in July 2021. Compared to June 2021, HMSI registered a 65 per cent growth in sales month-on-month in July 2021. According to a statement from HMSI, the company contributed over 1 lakh incremental units to the industry on the back of increase in demand for two-wheelers in July 2021.

The upcoming bike from Honda is confirmed to be a small-capacity ADV, based on the Honda Hornet 2.0

Talking about the industry scenario and the market demand, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Director, Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, "Gradually ramping up production while monitoring the market situation, Honda's sale momentum continues to accelerate with July month reaching closer to the 4 lakh unit mark. With majority of our dealer network resuming operations across the country, a sharp surge in enquiries for scooters followed by motorcycles is being witnessed. Backed by a good monsoon, increasing preference for personal mobility and upcoming festival season, we expect faster recovery for the market."

Honda is getting ready to launch a new 184 cc adventure bike, to be called the Honda NX200, later this month.

In July 2021, Honda inaugurated two BigWing dealerships for its premium bike range. The first, is a BigWing Topline for Honda's big bike range in Chennai, and the second a BigWing outlet in Chandigarh for the mid-size motorcycle segment. In July 2021, Honda also commenced deliveries of the Honda CB650R and CBR650R to customers. Also in July 2021, Honda commenced deliveries of its flagship model, the 2021 Honda Gold Wing Tour through its exclusive premium retail outlets, Honda BigWing Topline. HMSI is also getting ready to launch its new entry-level adventure bike based on the Honda Hornet 2.0. The Honda NX200, as it will be called, is expected to be launched later in August 2021, and will be HMSI's first crossover motorcycle for India.
