Volocopter Plans eVTOL To US Starting With Los Angeles

- It could become the first air taxi service in the US
- Volocopter has plans of launching in Paris and Singapore as well
- It is backed by the Daimler group which is the parent company of Mercedes
Volocopter which is an urban air mobility company has announced a partnership with Urban Movement Labs (UML) to implement eVTOL's in the US starting with Los Angeles. This includes the Volocopter Volocity Air Taxi service. Volocopter is a German urban air mobility developer who operates both as an aircraft manufacturer, an airport and also now as the creator of an air taxi service. Volocopter operates already in three cities and is backed by Mercedes parent Daimler. Volocopter is headquartered in Bruschel in Germany which is also home to its three test and development centres that are focused on the progress of the VoloCity air taxi service. Volocopter also has operations in Munich where it has a separate operation for VoloDrone which is its heavy cargo transportation business. It also has a VoloConnect business which develops long-range electric flights.

VoloCopter also operates VoloPort in Singapore
Volocopter is working on launching its first eVTOL urban air taxi service in Singapore and even Paris. Los Angeles will be the third city where it launches its service. Volocopter will be working with UML to inform policy and framework focussed on urban air mobility and advanced air mobility -- it will be focussing on the ways advanced aircraft operate in and around cities.
"Our partnership with Urban Movement Labs is a great entryway into the US with our innovative UAM services. By leading the conversation about urban air mobility with broad stakeholders in Los Angeles, Volocopter can strategically identify and address how our services can benefit cities in the country. More importantly, we are also gaining real insights into living transportation ecosystems in the US to build the best complimentary service to other modes of transportation for our future passengers," said Christain Bauer, the COO of Volocopter.

It already has plans of operating the service in Singapore and Paris
UML and Volocopter will also share lessons for ensuring safe and sustainable transportation in Los Angeles. It plans on launching the service in 2-3 years following final certification in the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). It even has a campaign for the US market at the CoMotion 2021 that's happening in downtown Los Angeles between November 16-18.
