Since issuing a permanent registration number takes some time, RTOs allow us to apply for a temporary registration number for our cars. In fact, one cannot even drive from the dealership to the RTO for a permanent registration without first sticking on a temporary registration number. This process is now made simpler since you can apply for it online. Temporary registration numbers are issued as yellow stickers to be stuck on your blank number plate. Nowadays, dealerships take care of all the registration business before you collect your car. But if ever you need to do it yourself, here´s how one goes about it.
