  • The car gets updated interiors and colour schemes
  • The India spec Etios facelift will continue with the same engine options
Toyota India is all set to launch the Etios sedan and Etios Liva facelifts this festive season and the updates are expected to bring some novelty to the Japanese models. Designed and built for the Indian market, the Etios twins haven't been revolutionary for Toyota in the country, but are consistent sellers, given the spacious cabin and the automaker's brand and reliability. Ahead of the official launch expected in the following days, here is what we know about the 2016 Etios sedan and Etios Liva facelift.

Toyota Etios Facelift Front

1. The new Toyota Etios and Liva models have been updated with cosmetic tweaks features a redesigned V-shaped front grille with a chrome lining on the sedan, while the Liva gets a body coloured lining. The front and rear bumpers have also been completely redesigned and looks leaner than the outgoing version. A chunky looking chrome bar sits on the boot-lid of the sedan. In addition, the side profile gets revised side skirts and new alloy wheels.

2. The interior remains the same overall layout, but gets revised analog cluster which is still in the centre, but looks better. The dashboard has been finished in a dual-tone beige and black colour scheme on the Etios sedan, which we expect to be all black on the Liva. You also get chrome bezels on the air-con vents, leather wrapped steering wheel and new seat upholstery.

3. The India spec Toyota Etios facelift gets a host of changes over the Brazilian spec version. While cosmetic updates remain similar, the interiors do not get as extensive changes as the Latin update. As a result, the Indian model misses out on a touchscreen infotainment system, MID unit inside the instrument console and a new multi-function steering wheel.

4. Furthermore, the Brazilian model gets cruise control, three-point seat belt for the middle passenger, ISOFIX child seat mount and head restraints on the 2016 Toyota Etios facelift. The Indian version however, will continue to get the headrest integrated front seats, seen on the outgoing model. The other features are yet to be confirmed.

5. In terms of power, the India spec Toyota Etios facelift will continue using the 1.5-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel engine options on the sedan version, while the Etios Liva hatchback will continue using the 1.2-litre petrol and the same 1.4-litre diesel engines. Both units will come paired to a 5-speed manual transmission.

6. The facelifted Toyota Etios twins are expected to go on sale on September 13 in the country. Prices will be announced then and one can expect the same to see a marginal escalation. More details on the new model will be available in the following days. Stay tuned!
