2017 Yamaha SCR950 Scrambler Revealed

- The SCR950 Scrambler shares its underpinnings with the Bolt cruiser
- Light in weight, the SCR950 gets several heritage styling cues
- Yamaha is offering a host of accessory options on the 2017 SCR950

Based on the Bolt cruiser, the Yamaha SCR950 Scrambler looks stunning
The 2017 Yamaha SCR950 uses a double-cradle frame aimed to offer a sporty geometry and the new subframe allows flat seating, which helps accommodate a variety of riders. The favourable seating also helps riders in ease of navigation while countering off-road terrain. The wide handlebar sits tall and is intended to fall right into your palm, should you want to stand and ride.

The 2017 SCR950 Scrambler gets heritage lines coupled with modern elements like LED lights
Visually, the SCR950 gets some very interesting details like the LED rear tail lights, retro-side facing number plates, fork boots and much more. The fuel tank gets finished in retro colour schemes that we particularly like, while the high mounted indicators ensure the classic lines remain intact. Completing the look are the 19-inch front and 17-inch rear spoked aluminium wheels along with the 2-into-1 exhaust pipe.

Yamaha is offering a range of accessories on the SCR950 like that aluminium under body guard
In terms of powertrain, the Yamaha SCR950 uses a 942cc 60-degree, air-cooled, V-Twin engine with four valves per cylinder shared with the Bolt cruiser and is tuned to develop 49hp of power. The motor sends power to the rear wheel with a 5-speed gearbox via a compact belt anchor drive. Suspension duties are performed by 41mm inverted forks up front and twin shocks at the rear and while the front forks may seem a bit too raked for a scrambler, Yamaha suggests that the scrambler's light kerb weight of 247 kg makes it extremely agile.

Too bad, Yamaha won't be bringing the SCR950 Scrambler to India
Braking performance comes from the 298mm disc brakes at the front and rear, both getting wavy rotors. As much as the 2017 Yamaha SCR950 entices us with its appeal, the middleweight scrambler won't making it to India any time soon. Meanwhile, do checkout the SCR950's stunning official video below.
