The S 1000 R is based on the S 1000 RR and comes to India almost a couple of years after the new-gen S 1000 RR sportbike was launched. The S 1000 R uses the same engine, frame and swingarm as the RR. The design too has been updated significantly, with new body panels and a new LED headlight up front, with a DRL running across the unit, although the asymmetrical headlights on the old model had a lovely character that is missed on the new model.
