2022 Citroen C5 Aircross Debuts In Europe

- Citroen updates C5 Aircross for 2022 with cosmetic tweaks.
- The mid-cycle facelift also brings updates to the creature comforts.
- We expect the refreshed version to land in India by the end of 2022.
The Citroën C5 Aircross hasn't been around for long, but since its debut in 2017, the C5 Aircross has been one of the best-selling products for the company in Europe. To further spice things up in the segment, Citroën updated the SUV for 2022 with cosmetic tweaks to its front section, profile, as well as its rear along with minor updates to the interior to heighten the premium quotient even further. The mid-cycle facelift of the Citroën C5 Aircross also updates a few of the creature comforts for a comfortable and serene drive. In India, the Citroën C5 Aircross was launched in 2020, and is the only product on offer from the French carmaker, as it readies the Citroën C3 compact SUV for the country.

The mid-cycle facelift of the Citroën C5 Aircross also updates a few of the creature comforts for a comfortable and serene drive.
Significant changes to Citroën C5 Aircross include an updated front end design that features the new Citroën logo that is positioned in the centre of the grille, and a V-shaped LED daytime running light which gives a 3D effect to the front lights, whilst the upright design of the front grille adds to the robust stance of the vehicle. The air curtains positioned at either side of the front bumper are functional and look quite stylish in our opinion. The glossy aluminum skid plate on the lower part of the front bumper makes the front end look more dynamic and gives it a more purposeful appearance. Also updated for 2022 is the bonnet, which is positioned slightly higher than the previous version to increase its road presence even further.
The ‘C' side signature is finished in chrome and reinforces the floating effect of the roof, while the 230mm ground clearance is sufficient to take things off-road if the need arises. The new 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, as well as gloss black door mirrors, enhance the overall appeal of the SUV, while the gloss black roof bars get new matt black inserts. The Citroën C5 Aircross also adds a new color called Eclipse Blue.

The interior of the Citroën C5 Aircross is even more updated for 2022. The refreshed C5 Aircross now gets a new 10-inch touchscreen, which is of course larger than the previous one and has improved on a few ergonomics by offering direct access to climate control functions and is positioned higher on the dashboard. In addition, the fully customizable 12.3-inch digital driver's display provides all essential information directly in the driver's eye-line. The Citroën C5 Aircross is known for its comfortable seats, and so, this update also brings in the new generation of Citroën Advanced Comfort seats, which are composed of high-density foam in the core of the seat, with an extra 15mm layer of foam and a specific structure. The seats wear a new soft-touch Alcantara on selected versions, and there is also a new high-end perforated leather option on demand. The armrests and the central console are trimmed with a new black leather-effect fabric and the dashboard with a new textured black leather-effect insert. The updated model is also available with a choice of four new upholstery color schemes, which also dolls up the seats, door panels, and dashboard.

The Citroën C5 Aircross also offers a wide range of latest-generation technologies to improve comfort and safety, with a benchmark total of 19 driver-assistance systems, including highway driver assist, which is a level-2 autonomous driving system, combining adaptive cruise control with a stop & go function and the active lane departure warning system. Space is also ample for passengers as well as their luggage, as the boot can swallow up to 580L to 720L for petrol and diesel versions, and from 460L to 600L for plug-in hybrid versions. With rear seats folded down, the boot liberates about 1,510L to 1,630L depending on the variant.

The Citroën C5 Aircross also adds a new color called Eclipse Blue.
Mechanically, Citroën did not reveal any details for the ICE-powered versions. The PHEV models, however, can travel up to 55km in full-electric mode with zero tailpipe emissions. With the ability to charge at 7.4kW as standard, plugging into a domestic 32A wall box allows it to charge fully in under 2 hours. In India, the C5 Aircross is offered in its diesel guise powered by a 2.0-litre engine that develops 177bhp and is coupled to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
