  • Made with Genuine Yamaha Technologies Racing (GYTR) components
  • The R1 GYTR aims to offer a genuine racing experience

Yamaha Motor Europe has introduced a race-prepped version of its R1 superbike, a track-only superbike, calling it the Yamaha R1 GYTR. The bike looks similar in silhouette to the stock R1, but the R1 GYTR is based on the World Superbike Championship and British Superbike winning YZF-R1 and gets some Genuine Yamaha Technologies Racing (GYTR) components for the brand’s flagship sports bike. GYTR parts use state-of-the-art materials like carbon fibre and aircraft-grade aluminium, and have been used in race bikes from Yamaha for years.

The Yamaha R1 GYTR includes a long list of Yamaha Racing components to make a track-ready superbike, which will be sold through GYTR Pro shops in Europe.

The R1 GYTR uses as many as 25 GYTR components, including full Akrapovic exhaust, GYTR ECU with wiring harness and ABS emulator for full race mode along with a PC cable for remote diagnostics, GYTR on/off switch, 5/42T 520 sprockets, GYTR R-Series 520 racing chain, Brembo Z04 brake pads, GYTR Stainless Steel Brake Line Set and more.

The Yamaha R1 GYTR also includes a GYTR Pro package which makes the track-exclusive machine almost as close to the Yamaha WorldSBK machine.

The R1 GYTR is available for sale only through GYTR Pro shops, and 17 of those are in Europe. The GYTR Pro kit ups the racy quotient even further with as many as 400 different components developed by GYTR that are used on Yamaha WorldSBK machines.

The 998 cc, inline four-cylinder Crossplane engine comes with a titanium Akrapovic exhaust in the R1 GYTR.

The Pro kit includes GYTR swingarm, large capacity and low gravity fuel tank, carbon rear subframe, Pro triple clamp, carbon cowling set, different handlebars, handlebar switches and customised Marelli electronics. Also available are Brembo wheel adaptors to fit in the Ohlins FGR400 front forks and the inverted swingarm.
