carandbike Awards 2022: Car Manufacturer Of The Year - Tata Motors

Tata Motors was the 2022 carandbike Car Manufacturer of the Year. The company took home the award staving off competition from Audi, Mercedes, Hyundai, Kia, Skoda and Volkswagen. The Indian carmaker had a strong showing in 2021 consolidating sales and establishing itself as the best selling EV car manufacturer in the country on the back of the Nexon EV. The carmaker also had some prominent launches through the year including the reborn Safari and the all-new Tata Punch.
2021 was a year of growth for Tata Motors in India on the back of strong sales from its portfolio of models. The brand recorded near constant double-digit year on year growth in sales with it even unseating Hyundai to the number two spot in December 2021. The following month the carmaker would go on to record its best ever monthly figures though Hyundai reclaimed the no two position.
The carmaker also had three important launches in the year – the new Tata Safari arrived in early 2021, the Tigor EV received a major update during the middle of the year and the all-new Tata Punch was launched in October 2021. The latter also proved to be popular with buyers with over 32,000 sold in its first four months and was also adjudged our Entry Car of the Year.
The Tigor EV meanwhile further cemented Tata as the bestseller in the EV manufacturer space.
Safety too was a key point in Tata's line-up with the Punch becoming the third Tata car to get a five star Global NCAP rating. The Tigor EV two scored a notable 4 star rating putting it in the same category as the standard petrol Tigor – a notable achievement given the added mass and weight of the battery pack for the EV.
