EICMA 2017: KTM 790 Duke Unveiled Along With 790 Adventure Concept

- This is the first ever KTM model to get a parallel-twin engine
- The engine makes 103 bhp and 86 Nm of torque
- The 790 Duke gets a bunch of electronics as well
KTM is known to make motorcycles which prioritise performance over everything else. And not to mention that its bikes are rather good-looking too. KTM in India has a rather limited model range and we would love to see some of its bigger bikes make it to India soon. But that is a discussion for another time. KTM finally took the wraps off the all-new 790 Duke, which is perhaps the first KTM to get a parallel-twin engine! KTM is calling it the 'ultimate street weapon' and going by the looks and the specs, it is difficult to go against it too.

Coming to the engine first, it is a 799 cc parallel-twin, which KTM calls as the LC8c engine. It makes 103.3 bhp at 9,000 rpm and 86 Nm of peak torque at 8,000 rpm. The dry weight of the bike is just 169 kg. then KTM has thrown in two balancer shafts, EFI and a six-speed gearbox into the mix. KTM is using the engine as a stressed member to keep the weight of the bike in check. Looking at the pic, one can deduce that the chassis and the styling of the bike too is all-new and exudes that raw masculinity that KTM naked are famous for.
(KTM 790 Adventure Prototype)The 790 Duke gets a bunch of features and electronics too such as cornering ABS, supermoto riding mode, quick-shifter, launch control, customisable track mode, the KTM TFT instrumentation console and a lean-sensitive traction control. One can also get the KTM My Ride pack for smartphone pairing.
(KTM 790 Adventure Prototype)Along with the 790 Duke, KTM also confirmed that it is working on the 790 Adventure. KTM currently does not have a model in the middleweight adventure segment and with Triumph launching the new-gen Tiger 800 and BMW too introducing the F 750 GS and the F 850 GS, we believe KTM would love to have a go at it! After all, KTM loves making adventure motorcycles.
