Rakesh Srivastava, Senior Vice-President (Sales & Marketing), Hyundai India, said, "We hope to touch order book of 100,000 units by this month end. After generating a tremendous response in the domestic market with more than 75,000 bookings, Creta has been globally launched with an overwhelming response. We have already shipped 12,270 units so far to export destinations."
For the past few years, the South Korean carmaker has been the largest exporter of passenger cars from India. Currently manufactured only in India, the Hyundai Creta is exported to a total of 77 countries including Colombia, Costa Rica, Peru, Panama, Oman, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco, and Nigeria.
One must note, the overwhelming response for the Hyundai Creta also means extended waiting periods. Consequently, the carmaker increased its production capacity; first from 5,000 to 7,000 units per month, and from December, 2015 it was further increased to 10,000 units per month.
Hyundai Creta is offered with a choice of three engines: 1.6 Gamma Dual VTVT, 1.6 U2 CRDi VGT, and 1.4 U2 CRDi. Its transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox (1.6 Diesel).
