Maruti Suzuki Celerio Gets Optional ABS and Airbags

Maruti Suzuki Celerio is now available with optional airbags and ABS across all trim levels. India's leading car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has announced that all variants including the base model, will now get these additional safety systems. MSIL recently followed up on last year's launch of the petrol Celerio by introducing a diesel variant that comes fitted with the company's newly developed 3-pot diesel engine. The Maruti Suzuki Celerio, which was launched back in 2014 at the Delhi Auto Expo, was the first car in its segment to offer Auto Gear Shift (AGS) technology which is based on the mechanical principles of an AMT gearbox.

It sits above the Alto K10 and below the Wagon R and Swift in the Indian manufacturer's range of affordable hatchbacks and is powered by either a 1.0-litre petrol or a titchy 0.8-litre diesel engine. Additionally, it also happens to be available with a CNG kit, making the Celerio the only car in its segment to offer 3 fuel choices and 2 gearbox options.

Besides the Celerio, MSIL recently announced that ABS and dual airbags would be made optional on its entire Swift and DZire range of cars. The company has also begun offering these added safety technologies on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Wagon R, Ertiga and Maruti Suzuki S-Cross.

Speaking about the improved safety features now offered on the Celerio, Mr. R.S.Kalsi, Executive Director of Sales and Marketing, MSIL stated,"Through Celerio we have always tried to offer the best to customers. By offering safety features like airbags for driver and co-driver, and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) from the base variant onwards in Celerio, we are making it more attractive for customers. I am happy that we are able to offer these safety features on Celerio much ahead of regulations."
Maruti has already sold over 1.4 lakh units of its Celerio compact hatchback. The car is priced between Rs 4.16 lakh and Rs 5.04 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
