Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Scores 5 Stars In Bharat NCAP Crash Test

Maruti Suzuki India’s first electric vehicle, the e Vitara, has scored a 5-star safety rating in the latest Bharat NCAP crash test. The electric SUV, set to go on sale in India soon, earned 5 stars in both adult and child occupant protection tests. The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara scored 31.49/32 for adult occupant protection, and 43/49 for child occupant protection. This is the highest that any Maruti Suzuki model has scored in a crash test.

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara was crash tested for the front offset barrier test and side movable barrier test. In the former, the car scored 15.49 out of 16 and 16 out of 16 in the side barrier test. According to the report, protection offered to the driver’s head, neck, thighs, and feet was rated as good, while the same for their chest and legs was adequate. The protection offered to the co-driver was rated as good overall.

As for safety features, the new Maruti Suzuki e Vitara comes with a host of standard offerings. These include – 7 airbags, seatbelt reminder, electronic stability control (ESC), and seatbelt pretensioner and load limiter for driver and co-driver. ISOFIX mounts for child seat restraints are only offered in the second row, on the two outboard seats. Higher variants of the e Vitara will also come with additional features like 360-degree view cameras and ADAS.

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara gets 7 airbags, seatbelt reminder, electronic stability control (ESC) as standard

The e Vitara is offered in three variants and two battery pack options – Delta with a 49 kWh unit, and Zeta, and Alpha featuring the bigger 61 kWh. Lower variants use a front-mounted motor producing 142 bhp and 192.5 Nm, while the more powerful configuration delivers 172 bhp. An AWD version is offered in international markets but has not been confirmed for India. Depending on the variant, the e Vitara has a WLTP-certified range of up to 428 km.
