Maruti Suzuki Registers Net Profit Of 3.4 Per Cent In Q2 Of FY2018

Indian auto major Maruti Suzuki reported financial results for the second quarter of this fiscal (2017-18). The automaker registered a 3.4 per cent hike in its net profit at Rs. 2484.3 crore in the second quarter of the financial year. The company sold a total of 492,118 vehicles during Q2, a year-on-year growth of 17.6 per cent. Maruti's domestic sales stood at 457,401 units, recording a growth of 19.4 per cent, while its exports were at 34,717 units.
During Q2, Maruti Suzuki registered net sales of Rs. 21,438.1 crore, an increase of 21.8 per cent over last year. The company also disclosed that the operating profit increased by 24 per cent while the net profit increased by 3.4 per cent. The latter was due to lower non-operating income as the yields on investments were lower compared to last year.
Furthermore, Maruti Suzuki also reported that the automaker sold a total of 886,689 vehicles in the first half of the financial year between April and September, registering a growth of 15.6 per cent. Sales in the domestic market stood at 825,832 units, growing by 17.1 per cent; whereas exports were at 60,857 units.
The company's net sales for H1 stood at Rs. 38,570.5 crore, a growth of 19.5 per cent over the same period last year. The net profit stood at Rs. 4040.7 crore, a hike by 3.8 per cent.
