MG Motor India Records Sales Growth Of 145% For ZS EV In 2021

MG Motor India is witnessing a great demand for the ZS EV electric compact SUV. The Chinese-owned British carmaker recently announced that its EV sales stood at 2,798 units in the calendar year 2021. Compared to 1,142 units sold in 2020, the brand registered a sales growth of 145 per cent. The ZS EV, which is currently the only electric offering in the automaker's EV lineup, continues to get around 700 bookings per month, as per the company's press statement.

The MG ZS EV was first launched in India in 2020, and the facelifted model arrived in February last year. The all-electric SUV comes in two trims - Excite and Exclusive. While the former is priced at Rs. 21.50 lakh, the latter gets a price tag of Rs. 25.18 lakh (All prices, ex-showroom Delhi).

The MG ZS EV is powered by a 44.5 kWh Hi-Tech battery pack that powers a permanent magnet synchronous motor.
Mechanically, the MG ZS EV gets a 44.5 kWh Hi-Tech battery pack that powers a permanent magnet synchronous motor. It develops 141 bhp and 353 Nm of peak torque. While the ARAI certified range stands at 419 km on a single charge, MG says depending on weather and driving conditions, the SUV can offer a range of anywhere between 300 and 400 km. The EV can do a 0-100 kmph sprint in just 8.5 seconds.
As for charging, the EV can be charged up to 80 per cent in just 50 minutes through a 50kW DC fast charger. However, an 11kW AC charger that customers get with the car will take close to 8 hours to do the same.
