Highlights

Nissan signed a major eight year deal with the International Cricket Council which will see it become a global sponsor for tournaments like the ICC Cricket World Cup, ICC Champions Trophy and the ICC World Twenty20 as well as the under 19 and Women's Cricket and qualifying events.

The agreement runs through 2023, will allow the Japanese car maker to bring its innovative and fan-focused approach to the cricketing world. "Innovation that excites is what Nissan does. As partners with the ICC we will introduce ways to enrich the experience of cricket fans through our rights with the global Trophy Tour, the International Flag Bearer Program and the new live event experiences." Roel de Vries, Corporate VP and Global Head of Marketing and Brand Strategy, Nissan, said.

As a global partner, Nissan will have extensive in-venue activation, broadcast and digital rights at all ICC events. The company has a bunch of products in the pipeline and this sort of partnership will help Nissan grab more eyeballs and we could ask if there is a special edition in the offing?

The Japanese car maker's goal is to achieve 5% market share by 2020 and that means more products in the Indian market under both the Nissan and the Datsun brand.
