As per the latest Union budget for the upcoming fiscal, additional taxes up to 4 per cent have been levied upon cars and SUVs in India. While vehicles over 10 lakh will see a cess of 1 per cent, high capacity engine cars and SUVs will come with an added cess of 4 per cent. Furthermore, 1 per cent infrastructure cess will be levied on small petrol and CNG cars of length not exceeding 4 meter and engine capacity not exceeding 1,200cc. On the other hand 2.5 per cent cess will be imposed on diesel vehicles of length not exceeding 4 meter and engine capacity not exceeding 1,500cc. Tata isn't the only carmaker who has reacted to the latest budget 2016 by increasing car prices. In fact after the budget announcement country's second largest carmaker Hyundai Motor India had said that it plans to hike vehicle prices too. The company is planning to increase the price across range starting from Rs. 3,000 to Rs 80,000. At the same time Honda Cars India too announced its plans to increase prices of cars up to Rs. 80,000.
