Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR Teased In Second Video

- New teaser video reveals retro-inspired styling of Speed Triple 1200 RR
- The Speed Triple 1200 RR will be based on the Speed Triple 1200 RS
- Same 1,160 cc, triple engine making 178 bhp, 125 Nm expected
Triumph Motorcycles has released a second teaser video of the upcoming Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR which will be a sports bike with a retro-inspired cafe racer styling. The bike is expected to be built on the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 platform. For reference, the current Speed Triple 1200 RS features a 1,160 cc, triple-cylinder engine which makes 178 bhp at 10,750 rpm along with 125 Nm of peak torque at 9,000 rpm. The same engine is expected to be used in Speed Triple 1200 RR, and will possibly come with a bi-directional quickshifter, as well as electronics suite powered by a six-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU), with cornering ABS, cornering traction control, front wheel lift control and at least 5 riding modes.

The latest teaser video gives a clearer looks, although it's still a glance at the upcoming model. The video shows a cafe racer inspired design, with a round LED headlight and a half-fairing. The styling cues will set apart the new model, with a retro-inspired design, but with completely modern and high-performance underpinnings. The 2022 Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR will be unveiled soon, and Triumph is expected to announce more details on September 14, 2021.
The new bike will likely get the same chassis, as the 1200 RS, made of light aluminium, as well as op-spec Ohlins NIX30 upside down forks which are adjustable for preload, rebound and compression damping. At the rear is a Ohlins TTX36 twin-tube monoshock which is also fully adjustable for preload, rebound and compression damping. Braking hardware will also be the same Brembo Stylema radial monobloc calipers gripping twin 320 mm discs up front, and a Brembo twin-piston caliper at the rear, gripping a 270 mm rotor.
