Highlights

  • TVS has dropped a teaser that says Race Performance on social media
  • TVS recently trademarked the Apache 165 RP name
  • The TVS Apache 165 RP could be introduced by early 2022

TVS Motor Company has dropped the first teaser of the 'RP or Race Performance', which could be a new sub-brand from the company. The teaser also hints at the arrival of the TVS Apache 165 RP motorcycle, considering the company recently filed a trademark for the name. The upcoming Apache 165 RP could arrive by early 2022 and is likely to be a track-focused version based on the Apache RTR 160 4V. While details are scarce, there's a possibility that the bike could get a larger displacement engine bored out of the 160 cc single-cylinder motor of the Apache RTR 160 4V.

The 15-second teaser video gives a glimpse at a race track and is an obvious hint to TVS Racing's talent and engineering that has helped the manufacturer develop newer and performance-friendly products. The company has been actively working to bring more performance in each of its offerings across the Apache line-up. And the upcoming 'RP' series could be about further introducing more focused performance at an accessible price point. Could it be similar to TVS' Build To Order (BTO) program for the Apache RTR 160 4V? That would be something, wouldn't it? However, all of this is conjecture at this point.

The TVS Apache RTR 165 RP is likely to sport more dedicated ergonomics and possibly adjustable front suspension borrowed from the Apache RTR 200 4V. Other features could include riding modes, adjustable levers and TVS Racing paint scheme and decals carried over from the Apache RTR 160 4V. To give you perspective, the standard Apache RTR 160 4V produces 17.6 bhp and 14.7 Nm of peak torque from its 160 cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine. It's paired with a 5-speed gearbox. More details regarding the Race Performance name from TVS will uncover in the days to come.
