Two-Wheeler Sales December 2021: Royal Enfield's Sales Remain Flat Year-On-Year As Volumes Recover

- Royal Enfield's domestic sales stood at 65,187 units in December 2021
- Royal Enfield's exports stood at 8,552 units in Dec 21, up by 144%
- Year-to-date sales declined by 6% with 3.7 lakh units sold by RE
Royal Enfield reported flat domestic sales year-on-year for December 2021 with 65,187 units sold as against 65,492 units sold in December 2020. The motorcycle maker's volumes are on the road to recovery as they performed better than November 2021 when the company sold 44,133 units, a growth of 45 per cent. It was also substantially better than December 2019 during the pre-pandemic era when sales declined to 48,489 units. The company's exports for last month saw a major jump with 8,552 units shipped overseas, a hike of 144.13 per cent as against 3,503 units in December 2020.

With respect to year-to-date sales, Royal Enfield sold 360,898 units between April and December 2021, witnessing a decline of nearly six per cent when compared to 383,779 units sold during April and December 2020. Exports, on the other hand, saw a sharp rise of 135 per cent during the same period with 55,695 units shipped from India as against 23,677 during the previous fiscal.
2021 remained a special year for Royal Enfield as the new-generation Classic 350 hit the showrooms. The bread and butter model of the company promised a quicker sales recovery and that seems to be the case. Moreover, the company introduced the Anniversary Edition 650 Twins sold last month that was sold out in record time. Celebrating its 120th anniversary, the RE Himalayan conquered the South Pole last month during a special expedition in a historic moment for the manufacturer.
