Two-Wheeler Sales May 2021: TVS Registers Sale of 166,889 Units

- Total two-wheelers sales were 154,416 units in May 2021
- Motorcycles sales included 125,188 units in May 2021
- TVS sold 19,627 scooters in May 2021
TVS Motor Company registered sales of 166,889 units in May 2021 as against sales of 58,906 units in the month of May 2020. Domestic sale in May 2021 was lower due to lockdowns in many states, but retails continue to be ahead of despatch. In comparison, TVS sold 238,983 units in April 2021 which includes domestic sales of 226,193 units. TVS says it reduced stocks to support the dealers and channel partners in order to maintain adequate inventories for customer demand. TVS expect pent up demand go up as markets begin to reopen.

Total two-wheelers sales were 154,416 units in May 2021 as against sales of 56,218 units in May 2020. Motorcycles sales included 125,188 units in May 2021, against 26,772 units in May 2020. TVS sold 19,627 scooters in May 2021 as against sales of 16,120 units in May 2020. Domestic two-wheeler registered 52,084 units in May 2021 as against sales of 41,067 units in May 2020. In comparison, TVS sold 226,193 units in April 2021, a staggering difference of 77 per cent. Like May 2020, May 2021 too saw many states having partial to full lockdowns, which affected businesses rather strongly.

TVS exported a total of 114,674 units in May 2021 as against exports of 17,707 units in May last year. Two-wheeler exports consisted of 102,332 units last month as against 15,151 units in May 2020. TVS says that the demand in the international market continues to be robust. TVS registered sales of a total of 12,473 three-wheelers in May 2021 as against sale of 2,688 units in May 2020.
