- New Audi A4, A3 and A5 Sportback are undergoing testing in India
- The SQ7 will be the most powerful SUV from Audi in India
With growing competition from fellow German carmaker Mercedes-Benz, Audi is currently working on creating a stronger portfolio for itself in the Indian car market. With a number of car launches slated for the current fiscal, the market will see a many new products as well as facelifts enter our shores. In fact Audi has even importing cars to India for testing and homologation. Here we have listed down some of the most awaited Audi cars that will be launched in India this year.
New Audi A4
(2017 Audi A4 is Longer and Better Equipped)
The new generation Audi A4 is one of most awaited cars to be launched in India from the Ingolstadt-based carmaker's stable. The next-gen Audi A4 gets new cosmetic additions along with some stylish exterior features which have made the car a tad bit more premium. While the overall length of the car has grown by 25mm, the wheelbase alone is now 12mm longer than the current generation model. Among the new feature additions we have Audi's new Matrix LED headlamps along with LED daytime running lights, redesigned front grille and a new front bumper with larger air intakes. Audi India will launch the car in both petrol and diesel engine options, which will include a 1.8-litre TFSI engine and a 2.0-litre TDI oil burner both mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard. Earlier this year we even spotted the car testing in India.

Audi A3 Facelift
(Audi A3 Facelift Has Gained More Muscle)
Another one of Audi's most anticipated car for 2016, the new Audi A3 was recently imported to India for homologation process. It was just last month that the car was officially revealed and its immediate arrival for Homologation proves that the car will enter our market pretty soon. The test mule that was imported to India came powered by the company's new 1.4-litre petrol engine that comes in two tunes 123bhp with 200Nm of torque and 148bhp with 250Nm of torque. The fact that Audi is testing the engine in India shows that we might get a new base variant of the car as well - Audi A3 35 TFSI. Some major updates to the car's exterior profile includes the carmaker's signature Matrix LED headlights (optional, standard version gets Bi-xenon lights) with a new headlamp cluster, redesigned front grille, sporty front bumper add larger air intakes. There is a lot more about the car which we shared in our first drive review.
Expected Launch Date: Late 2016 or Early 2017
Expected Price: Rs. 22.5 lakh to 30 lakh
Audi A5 Sportback
(Audi A5 Sportback Spotted Testing in India)
After the new Audi A3, the company even imported the new generation Audi A5 Sportback in India for testing. We were lucky enough to spot the test mule earlier last week and if you ask us the car does look quite spectacular. The new A5 Sportback comes with some considerable design upgrades and styling that adds a more aggressive and premium appearance to the car. It gets a set of redesigned headlamps with new daytime running lights (DRLs). Like the new-gen A4 sedan, the A5 Sportback too is built on the company's new MLB2 platform, like the new A4, which is expected to make it lighter than its predecessor. The engine options haven't been confirmed yet but the model that has been imported to India is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that produces 187bhp and 400 Nm of torque. The car also features the the company's popular Quattro all-wheel drive system.
Expected Launch Date: Late 2016 or Early 2017
Expected Price: Rs. 55 lakh to Rs. 60 lakh
Audi SQ7
(The SQ7 Will be the Most Power SUV from Audi in India)
The new Audi SQ7 is the first Q7 to get the S badging, a tag given to those Audi products that are highly performance oriented. At 429bhp, the SQ7's 4.0-litre V8 will make it the most powerful SUV from Audi in the world. The SUV, which is basically a highly enhanced, powerful and faster version of the company's flagship SUV - Q7, is by all means a real treat for enthusiasts. Right from design and styling to its engine and technology, Audi SQ7 shows that it is in a different league altogether, something that we extensively spoke about in our review. A direct rival to the likes of the Land Rover Range Rover SVR and the newly launched Bentley Bentayga, the new Audi Q7 will come to India via the CBU route commanding an equally impressive price tag.
Expected Launch Date: Late 2017
Expected Price: Rs. 1 Crore to 1.2 Crore
