Updated Toyota Innova, Fortuner 4x4 Automatic Launched in India

Toyota India launched the updated version of the base variants of the Innova MPV and a new top-end variant of the Fortuner yesterday. While the new top-end model of the SUV, the Fortuner 4x4 AT, now comes with a price that ranges between Rs 24.17 lakh and Rs 26.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Innova now gets a starting price tag of Rs 10.51 lakh that goes all way up to Rs 15.80 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Though Toyota did offer an automatic variant on the Fortuner earlier, it came only with a two-wheel drive (2WD) option. However, this time the company has added the combo of the 5-speed automatic gearbox with the 4x4 model. Powering the 4x4 AT model is the same old 3.0-litre, 4-cylinder, diesel unit that is good for 169bhp. So with the new variant on offer, the Fortuner is now available in four different variants - 4x2 Manual, 4x4 Manual, 4x2 Automatic and 4x4 Automatic in addition to the TRD Sportivo bodykit version.
As far as the Innova is concerned, the entire range now gets front SRS airbags as standard; the car gets no other changes. The top-of-the-line variant of the Innova, ZX, now costs about Rs 73,000 more due to increased excise duty on cars.
