- The new concept SUV is likely to get into production soon
- Will get VW's Active Info Display merged with the infotainment system
Volkswagen has recently released the teaser images of its upcoming SUV, which is set to be unveiled at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show. The new SUV, which will most likely be a plug-in hybrid, is set to be the German carmaker's next big product in the high-end SUV category. Although Volkswagen will only show the concept version at Beijing, we believe the SUV will soon go into production and we will be able to see the final product pretty soon, possibly in the form of the new Touareg. The Beijing Motor Show will commence later next week on April 25.

Volkswagen Concept SUV Front
Now, judging from the teaser images it is quite clear that the concept version will see some extensive use of LED lights on the front fascia. As seen in the pictures, the front end of the SUV comes with some sharp LED lights that extend all the way along the grille. It also features prominent 'C' shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs) on the edges of the front bumper that adds to its hybrid/electric car persona.

Volkswagen Concept SUV Bonnet
The teaser images also reveal some sharp character lines along the exteriors profile of the SUV. The new SUV concept gets some additional exterior attributes like large front bumper, sculpted bonnet with hood vents, large overhangs, and roof rails among others. While more information about the features and interiors are yet to be revealed, the concept has an Active Info Display merged with the infotainment system. What this means is that it comes with a fully digital and customisable instrument cluster in the same vein as Audi's 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit.

Volkswagen Concept SUV Rear
In terms of powertrain option, the detailed specifications are yet to be revealed but the SUV's engine combined with the electric motor will churn out a peak power of 376bhp and develop a max torque of 699Nm. In electric mode alone the SUV will offer a range of 50 km. The SUV will be capable to doing a 0-100 km/h sprint in a little over six seconds, before reaching the top speed of 223km/h.
