Yamaha Working On New 110cc Bike to Challenge Hero and Honda

The commuter bike segment in India is the most competitive of the lot and as more and more manufacturers stoop in to grab a piece of that pie, we see the consumers spoilt for choice. Well, this time Yamaha has imported a 110cc bike for R&D purpose and looks likely that there will be an addition to its lineup.

Yamaha already has a 110cc commuter motorcycle on sale in the Indian market in the form of the YBR. Even the Crux serves as an entry level model to the 110cc segment. However, both the bikes have faced stiff competition from Honda's and Hero's offerings.

It is likely that the 110cc motor will be carried forward from the YBR so it will be the 4-stroke, SOHC, air-cooled unit which produces about 7bhp and 8Nm torque.  The bike will face competition from the Honda Twister CB and the Hero Passion XPro.

Yamaha will be bringing the Saluto too in a couple of months now, which is be a 125cc bike. We'll have to wait and see what their strategy is hereon.
