- Royal Enfield provides service and medical support through the ride
- The 14th Royal Enfield Himalayan Odyssey will culminate in Chandigarh
It's that time of the year again when the roads are clear, the mountains are calling and your Royal Enfield is itching to make that trip, sometimes a bit more than you want to. Well, we are talking about riding to Leh-Ladakh and the Royal Enfield Himalayan Odyssey. In its 14th edition, the RE Himalayan Odyssey commenced its journey from India Gate, Delhi to the highest mountain passes in the world. This year the odyssey has 61 motorcyclists including six women riders embarking on the ride that will span across the next 18 days over 2400 km.
The participants for the Himalayan Odyssey have gathered from across India and will reach Leh on 12th July. They will proceed to Khardung-La on 14th July, and will then be going through Keylong and Kaza, reaching Narkanda on 22nd July 2017. The riders will then proceed to the final ride to Chandigarh on 23rd July. With ice capped mountain peaks in the view, participants will tackle some of most challenging terrains of the world on their respective Royal Enfield motorcycles.

The participants are trained in basic first aid while RE provides mechanical support
If that's not all, weather changes dramatically in the mountains, right from scorching heat to icy cold conditions. There are also landslides and road blocks to watch out for. However, as experienced riders have said in the past and continue to say so - "It all feels worth it."
Addressing the riders at the flag-off ceremony, Royal Enfield - President, Rudratej Singh said, "The Himalayan Odyssey is more to us than a marquee ride event. It represents a clarion call to get on a Royal Enfield and kick-start a lifelong journey towards self discovery. If the Himalayas are our spiritual home, then the Himalayan Odyssey is a pilgrimage to our purpose of kick-starting explorations through pure motorcycling. Each year, we have a growing number of riders that traverse the Himalayas. Our endeavour is to keep doing acts like the Himalayan odyssey that give the uninitiated an inspiration to start riding and nudge our customers/riders to ride more and be the flag-bearers of our type of motorcycling."
