The Multistrada V2 is basically an updated model of the Multi 950, and the Multistrada 950 has been renamed to Multistrada V2, in a bid to create a relationship with the Multistrada V4. The Ducati Multistrada V2 gets the same 937 cc, L-Twin Testastretta motor, which is liquid-cooled and also does duty on the SuperSport and the Monster along with the Hypermotard. The engine is tuned to deliver 111 bhp at 9,000 rpm along with 96 Nm of peak torque at 7,750 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and there is a bi-directional quick-shifter on the V2 S as well. The engine gets new con-rods, a new 8-disc hydraulic clutch and the gearbox has been refurbished too. Ducati recommends oil change every 15,000 km and valve clearance check every 30,000 km. The engine, along with new mirrors and lighter cast-alloy wheels result in weight savings of 5 kg over the Multistrada 950, with the kerb weight being 222 kg for the V2 and 225 kg for the V2 S.

The design of the seat is new too and the bike has been made narrower at the waist so as to allow the rider to place his feet on the ground easily. Footpegs for the rider have been moved 10 mm to the rear, which will make the riding posture comfortable for taller riders. The motorcycle continues to get a tubular steel trellis frame with a double-sided Aluminium swingarm, 48 mm Kayaba fork up front and a monoshock at the rear, with 170 mm of travel for each and both being fully adjustable as well. The motorcycle gets a 19-inch wheel up front and a 17-inch unit at the rear, shod with Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tyres. Ducati will offer wire-spoke wheels as an accessory too.
