2022 Ducati Streetfighter V4 SP To Be Announced

- EPA documents reveal plans for a Ducati Streetfighter V4 SP model
- Lighter carbon fibre wheels, higher-spec components expected
- Ducati Streetfighter V4 SP may be announced in a few months' time
Ducati is planning to introduce a new, higher-spec SP model to the Ducati Streetfighter V4. According to latest reports, the US Environmental Protection Agency has listed the upcoming Ducati Streetfighter V4 SP along with the Streetfighter V4 and V4 S as models certified for 2022. According to motorcycle.com, Ducati may be preparing to announce the Streetfighter V4 SP, as a 2022 model, but the bike can be unveiled in a matter months, if not later this year. The EPA documents confirm that the bike will not have any changes to the 1,103 cc, 205 bhp, 122 Nm V4 engine.

The performance accessories package includes the Ducati dry clutch kit, which may be standard fitment on the Ducati Streetfighter V4 SP, as well as Ohlins suspension, Brembo Stylema R front brake calipers

But considering past SP models, most recently on the Ducati Panigale V4 SP, the SP denotes a model without a lot of re-engineering, but still enough changes to make the bike quicker; more specifically to shred weight with the use of lighter components, as well as some higher-spec units. In fact, considering the Panigale V4 SP version, the upcoming Streetfighter V4 SP should also get a similar treatment, offering a lighter, and faster model with some higher-spec components.

The Panigale V4 SP gets carbon fibre rims, and other carbon fibre bits, which help in reducing unsprung mass, and also gets higher-spec Ohlins suspension and Brembo Stylema R front brake calipers. The Stylema R calipers use different racing-derived pistons from the regular Stylemas, with radial ventilation holes that Brembo claims helps reduce the temperature of the brake fluid and improve performance stability. Other performance bits include a STM EVO-SBK dry clutch, which may also be introduced on the Streetfighter V4 SP. To top it off as a more exclusive, lighter and possibly quicker Streetfighter V4, the SP variant will also likely get special livery and colour options. More details are expected towards the end of the year, or maybe even before that when Ducati announces the new tricked-out Streetfighter V4 SP.
