2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class India Launch: Highlights

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is all set to hit the Indian roads today. The German brand will be announcing the prices of the new-gen W206 C-Class in a while and it's a leap over the previous generation model in every aspect. It is longer and wider than before offering better space on the inside and even sits higher from the ground. The looks have evolved to adore the new family design language, in fact quite reminiscent of the flagship S-Class and even on the inside, you get that "baby S" sense quite strongly.

The C-Class comes to us in two trims - AMG Line and Avant Garde - and the former gets two-tone AMG alloys, sharper bumper and diffuser and the star-studded front grille.
The exterior has that pulled back cab-rearward design that looks good. The power bulge on the bonnet and the AMG trim on the C 300d along with the Avant Garde line on the C 200 and the C 220d make it the sexiest and most gorgeous C-Class yet. The length of the new C-Class is up 65 mm and the wheelbase by 25 mm, and it sits 7 mm higher from the ground than its predecessor. It's also 10 mm wider than the outgoing model.

The 'baby S' looks and feels are more prominent on the inside, courtesy the 11.9-inch infotainment touchscreen and the overall layout.
Well! It's the cabin of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class which is more expressive of the S-Class style. The new 11.9-inch vertical touchscreen is of course the magnum opus and reminds you of the S-Class the moment you see it. It gets the latest generation of the MBUX based on NTG 7 and is a connected car, along with a bunch of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features like active brake assist and active parking assist. The 12.3-inch instrument cluster also looks a straight lift from the 'S'. The new C also gets a feature called 'Car-to-X', which is like a social network of cars, where Mercedes cars with MBUX can communicate with each other and share information on a real-time basis.

Any likeness in the design to the S-Class is purely intentional on the new-generation C-Class
The top-spec C 300d also gets Mercedes' smart digital lights which use up to 1.3 million pixels for lighting and can be configured according to the direction of traffic. Other creature comforts you expect from a car this segment like the premium Burmester sound system, ambient lighting, a connected car telematics suite that works with the Mercedes me app, wireless charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and either Alexa or Google home integration, are all on offer. That said, you still miss out on some feel-good features like ventilated seats and 360-degree camera view which you now expect from a car that would cost you upward of the Rs. 50 lakh mark.

All three engine options get a 48-volt mild hybrid system that provides a boost of 15 bhp and 200 Nm of peak torque.
Mercedes-Benz India will offer three engine options on the C-Class. The C 200 petrol, C 220d diesel and the most powerful engine, the C 300d. The petrol engine on offer is a 1.5-litre unit, while the diesel mill is the 2.0-litre units in two states of tune. In addition, all three engine options get an integrated starter generator (ISG) with EQ Boost, which provides a significant 15 bhp of extra power and up to 200 Nm of extra torque.
