50,000th Nissan Magnite Rolls Off The Production Line

Nissan's subcompact SUV, the Magnite, has now crossed the 50,000-unit production milestone. The carmaker commenced production of the Magnite at the Renault-Nissan plant in Chennai in October 2020 with the SUV being launched in India in December the same year. Post it's launch the Magnite has slowly been introduced in other global markets across South-East Asia and Africa.
Commenting on the milestone, Sinan Ozkok, president, Nissan Motor India, said, "The Big, Bold, Beautiful SUV is playing a key role in strengthening Nissan's presence in India and overseas. We express our gratitude to our customers, business partners and employees for making Nissan Magnite an overwhelming success in India and across global markets."
The carmaker also announced that it had received cumulative bookings of over 1 lakh for the SUV from domestic and international markets.

Since its launch the Magnite has helped strengthen Nissan's position in India
Since it's launch in December 2020, the Magnite can be credited with helping change Nissan fortunes in the domestic market. The compact SUV had racked up over 78,000 domestic bookings in about a year of launch with domestic deliveries also having crossed the 30,000-unit mark. What has worked in the SUV's favour has been its pricing and a package is that is both spacious, comfortable and well kitted out too imparting a good sense of value. The sub-compact SUV recently also scored a four-star Global NCAP rating for crash protection.

Biju Balendran, MD & CEO, Renault Nissan Automotive India Pvt Ltd, said "We have been able to achieve the 50,000th Magnite milestone in less than 15 months despite head winds from COVID and the Semi-conductor crisis. Our employees and supplier partners have contributed immensely with innovative strategies to overcome this crisis. Thanks to all of them, we as one team will continue to move to challenge the ongoing crisis and support the waiting customers with quality cars at the earliest possible time".
Currently priced between Rs. 5.76 lakh and Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom), the Magnite is available with a pair of 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engines – a 71bhp naturally aspirated unit and a more powerful 99bhp turbo-petrol mill. Both engines are paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard with the turbo-petrol also getting the option of a CVT.
