Auto Expo 2016: Tata Showcases Aria-Based Hexa SUV

Tata Motors showcased its Aria-looking Hexa at the 2016 Auto Expo that kick-started today. One look at it and one is immediately reminded of the Aria. However, considering the path Tata is taking after launching HorizoNext, there are surely a few changes.

Tata Hexa SUV Side profile
Tata Hexa shares its steering wheel and AC vents with Zest and Bolt. Under the hood, as expected, is the same 2.2-litre, four-cylinder VARICOR diesel engine that plays its role in the Safari Storme VARICOR 400. This engine offers the same 154bhp along with 400Nm of torque, as it does in the Safari. This power is then transferred to all the four wheels using a six-speed manual transmission. The car is 4764mm long, 1895mm wide, 1780mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2850mm.

The bulge on the bonnet makes it look a bit muscular, although there aren't any flamboyant lines on the sides of the car. The new projector head-lamps, a new honeycomb mesh front grille, newly designed fog-lamps, and a redesigned airdam certainly give it distinctive, and unmistakable, look.

Tata Hexa Dash
The rear too looks sportier with new LED tail-lamps and new bumper in dual-tone paint scheme. The side profile looks similar to the Aria, the door pillars are all blacked out, and the car comes with massive wheel arches that accommodate 19" wheels. There's a seating capacity for six passengers, and some of the features on the Hexa include ESP, ambient lighting, six airbags and an auto head-lamp and wiper.
On paper, the Tata Hexa looks mighty promising for the Indian market and we hope Tata Motors puts it into production soon.
