Indian auto giant, Tata Motors has big plans for the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo and will be unveiling a host of new models at the biennial event. The company has teased three new models that are set to make their debut at the Expo and will be giving a glimpse of the upcoming vehicles. While the teaser video reveals little about the new models, we can tell you that Tata's upcoming offerings will be the H5 (codename) SUV that will rival the Jeep Compass, while the other the other model will be the X451 premium hatchback to take on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. Meanwhile, the third model will be a Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV). All three vehicles are under wraps in the teaser and will be officially revealed on February 7, 2018. Here's what you should expect from Tata Motors at the expo.
Tata H5 SUV
After introducing back-to-back products in the more affordable segments, Tata Motors now plans to focus synergies in the more premium space. The H5 SUV is a much talked about model and is expected to share its underpinnings with Land Rover SUVs. The model is said to be underpinned by Land Rover Discovery Sport's L550 platform and will be available in both five-seater and seven-seater options. Interestingly, Tata will reportedly source the 2.0-litre MultiJet diesel engine from FCA for the new H5 SUV that also powers the Jeep Compass. The upcoming SUV is expected to be the advanced yet from the automaker, which will carry a host of new features and equipment. Expect to see a host of goodies including multiple driving modes, connectivity options and more.
Tata X451 Hatchback
Internally codenamed X451, Tata upcoming premium hatchback will take on a host of established models including the Maruti Baleno, Honda Jazz, Hyundai i20 and the likes in the segment. The Expo model like to be called the Impact Design 2.0 study, evolving in design from that seen on the Tiago. The X451 will be the first model to use the company's all-new Advanced Modular Platform (AMP), which is expected to underpin a host of models from the automaker in the future. Engine options are likely to remain the the 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel from the Nexon, while the model is likely to go into production sometime next year.
New Tata LCV
While details are sketchy about this one, Tata Motors promises to expand its complete vehicle line-up this year and we do expect to see an important model in the light commercial vehicle space. Tata Motors dominates the LCV space with the Ace and we do expect to see something new and innovative to make it in this segment soon.
In addition, Tata Motors will be shedding light on integrated mobility solutions across commercial and passenger vehicles at the expo. The company plans to showcase a host of innovations giving a glimpse of what the company has to offer in the future. Also expect to see the Racemo concept at the Tata pavilion this year, along with the Tigor EV that the company is supplying to the EESL.
