Bajaj Auto has silently launched the Avenger Cruise 220 in a new Desert Gold colour option. The bike has already reached some of the showrooms and dealers says that the bike will be retailed at Rs. 85,497 (ex-showroom, Delhi) same as the standard Cruise 220. Interestingly the new Desert Gold Colour of the Avenger Cruise 220 is very similar to shade on the old Yamaha Enticer, which was a very popular colour option when the bike was still in production.

The new Avenger series has been working out really well for the home-grown two-wheeler manufacturer and it has seen considerable growth in the cruiser segment. The company recorded cumulatively sold 31,000 units of the new Avenger bikes. Except for the new colour options and brown seat there are no new changes, be it superficial and mechanical. Currently only the Cruise 220 has received a new colour option, whether the Street 220 and 150 will also receive more colour options is yet to be confirmed. Some of the dealer we spoke to have confirmed that the new Desert Gold Avenger Cruise 220 will be available across all outlets within the next couple of days.

Bajaj launched the new Avenger series earlier last year in October and the two-wheeler manufacture introduced three new Avenger models - Cruise 220, Street 220, and Street 150. While the former two were designed taking two different kind of riding needs into consideration, highway cruising and city riding, the smaller Street 150 was designed to target the entry level cruiser bike market. Sadly all three models - Cruise 220, Street 220, and Street 150, came only in one colour option per model- Devine Black, Matte Black and Midnight Blue respectively. It seems like Bajaj has taken customer demands into consideration and is now working on bringing out more colour options.

Both the Cruise 220 and Street 220 are powered by a 220cc, single cylinder, air-cooled engine that churns out 18bhp and develops 17.5Nm of peak torque. On the other hand the Avenger Street 150 is powered by a 150cc, single cylinder engine that churns out 14.3bhp and develops 12.5Nm of peak torque. Both the motors come mated to a 5-speed gearbox with 1-down-4-up action.
