Car Sales August 2021: MG Motor India Registers Over 51 Per Cent Growth

- MG Motor India also posted a month-on-month (MoM) growth of 2.1 per cent.
- The MG ZS EV too clocked it's highest-ever bookings of over 700 units.
- MG Motor India sold 4315 units in Aug 2021 with over 51 per cent growth.
MG Motor India sold 4315 units in August 2021 recording over 51 per cent increase in sales as compared to the same month last year where it sold 2851 units. Even on month-on-month (MoM) basis the carmaker has recorded an uptick of 2.1 per cent as it sold 4225 in July 2021. The company has been dealing with supply constraints, especially due to the ongoing global shortage of semiconductors and is trying to pace up sales and meet the demand for its models, thereby reducing the waiting period.

The MG ZS EV clocked it's highest-ever bookings of over 700 units ever since the launch.
Rakesh Sidana, Director -Sales, MG Motor India, said, "The higher momentum has continued for all our three models. We are witnessing busy dealerships, eagerly seeking more inventory. However, the severe shortage of chips is expected to continue till the end of the year, leading to production constraints. We expect manufacturing in September to be severely impacted, which will be lower than August. We are trying our best to mobilise global resources to enhance the pace of production to meet customer demand during the festival season."

MG Motor India is also gearing up to launch the Astor compact SUV in India.
The MG ZS EV too clocked it's highest-ever bookings in a month since its launch, crossing the 700 units mark in August. The carmaker also said that the higher conversion rate of inquiries on both walk-ins at MG showrooms and digital sources hints at restoration of normalcy in consumer buying behaviour and overall sentiment. MG Motor is also gearing up to launch the Astor compact SUV around the festive season period and it should further add up to its overall volumes. At present, the MG Hector remains the bestselling model in the company's model range.
