Car Sales November 2021: Maruti Suzuki Sees 9% Decline In Sales, But Reports Highest Monthly Exports

The country's largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India, has reported selling 1,39,184 units in November 2021. Compared to 1,53,223 units sold during the same month in 2020, the carmaker witnessed a year-on-year decline of over 9 per cent. However, compared to 1,38,335 vehicles sold in October 2021, Maruti Suzuki witnessed a marginal growth of less than 1 per cent month-on-month. While the shortage of electronic components did have a minor impact on production, which affected domestic sales, Maruti did report its highest ever monthly exports of 21,393 units.

In November 2021, Maruti Suzuki India exported 21,393 units from India, 137 per cent growth compared to November 2020
Now compared to 9,004 units exported in November 2021 that's a massive growth of 137 per cent, however, the market situation was much different in 2020, so, it won't be an ideal comparison. Having said that, compared to 21,322 units exported in October 2021, the month-on-month growth was highly marginal. Maruti Suzuki's overall domestic sales for November 2021 stood at 1,17,791 units, an 18 per cent decline compared to 1,44,219 units sold in the same month last year. However, compared to 1,17,013 units sold in October 2021, MoM sales saw a marginal growth of less than 1 per cent.

Sales from the UV space, which includes the Vitara Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, Gypsy and S-Cross, stood at 24,574 units, a growth of over 3 per cent YoY
Maruti's mini and subcompact segment, which includes cars like - Alto, S-Presso, Wagon R, Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, and Dzire - collectively accounted for 74,492 units. Compared to 98,969 units sold in November 2020 the company saw a YoY decline of 25 per cent. In November 2021, Maruti also sold 1,089 units of its compact sedan Ciaz, a 41 per cent decline compared to 1,870 units sold during the same month in 2020. Sales from the utility vehicle space, which includes the Vitara Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, Gypsy and S-Cross, stood at 24,574 units, witnessing a growth of over 3 per cent compared to 23,753 units sold in November 2020.
As for the van segment, Maruti Suzuki sold 9,571 units of the Eeco van in November 2021, a drop of 14 per cent down compared to 11,183 units sold during the same month in 2020. Last month sales to other OEMs, that is Toyota, stood at 4,774 units, a decline of 9 per cent compared to 5,263 units sold in November 2020. In November 2021, Maruti Suzuki also sold 3,291 units of the Super Carry light commercial vehicle, achieving a 3 per cent growth compared to 3,181 units sold in November 2020.
