CES 2022: Qualcomm Automotive Inks Deals With Volvo, Honda & Renault For Digital Chassis Suite

- Qualcomms digital cockpit solution is now being used by Honda and Volvo
- Renault will start using the more comprehensive Digital Chassis solution
- The Digital Chassis has a digital cockpit, also gets ADAS and networking
Qualcomm's automotive division has been in overdrive mode at CES 2022 and last night at its press conference it announced a slew of deals for its digital chassis suite with major automakers like Volvo, Honda, and Renault. The idea for Qualcomm is to become the underpinning enabler for cars to become more intelligent, connected irrespective of software platforms. The
Digital Chassis suite includes Snapdragon Ride which its ADAS and autonomous capability, and Snapdragon cockpit which is a set of chipsets and software for infotainment systems. It also gets Snapdragon Auto Connectivity; a stack of networking appliances for 5G, LTE, and GPS integration in cars linking them with the cloud, V2X, and the World Wide Web and Snapdragon Car to Cloud which is a secure platform for running OTA updates and paid services for monetisation.

It is a suite of software, services and chipsets that enable autonomy, infotainment, services and connectivity in the car
At CES, Honda announced that it will be leveraging the Snapdragon Cockpit platform for its Android Automotive based vehicles that will launch in the US between 2022 and 2023. Volvo which has been the first OEM to adopt Android Automotive also announced a similar agreement with Qualcomm. It will use Qualcomm's chips and software to power the in-car experience in the upcoming Polestar 3 SUV and an upcoming Volvo fully electric SUV.
Renault has announced a more comprehensive deal that involves the adoption of the entire Digital Chassis suite. This includes its autonomous and ADAS stack, connectivity stack, infotainment processors, and cloud services. Qualcomm already has similar deals with GM, BMW, and Hyundai.
