Ducati Multistrada V2: Everything You Need To Know
Key Highlights
  • Top-spec Ducati Miultistrada V2 S priced at Rs. 16.65 lakh (Ex-showroom)
  • Multistrada V2 S in Slate Grey and GP Red rims priced at Rs. 16.84 lakh
  • Multistrada V2 S gets Ducati Skyhook semi-active suspension as standard

The Ducati Multistrada V2 is the latest generation entry-level model of its adventure sport touring range, the Multistrada family, designed to take on all kinds of terrain. The Multistrada V2 may sound like a new name, but in effect, it's the replacement for the Ducati Multistrada 950, and is essentially re-named as Multistrada V2 with some minor updates, including a 5 kg reduction in weight, and now features Ducati Skyhook semi-active suspension in the top-spec V2 S trim. There are minor ergonomic changes over the Multistrada 950 as well. The Multistrada V2 is priced from Rs. 14.65 lakh (Ex-showroom), and the higher-spec Multistrada V2 S gets standard semi-active electronic suspension. Here's a look at what the new Ducati Multistrada V2 offers. The higher-spec S variant is priced at Rs. 16.65 lakh (Ex-showroom).

The Multistrada V2 runs on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel combination, and wire-spoke wheels are also available as optional extras.

Design

The overall design and silhouette is unmistakably Multistrada. The face retains its familiar appearance, but the design has got a minor update with a more tapered headlight cowl and fairing which offers more smooth and rounded surfaces for improved aerodynamics. The bodywork also features new graphics, showing off the new name to underscore that it's the latest generation entry-level Multistrada. The colour range consists of the classic 'Ducati Red' colour with black rims, available for both Multistrada V2 and Multistrada V2 S, along with the new 'Street Grey' livery with black frame and 'GP Red' rims, which can only be ordered for the S variant. But it's priced the highest, at Rs. 16.84 lakh (Ex-showroom).

The footpegs, shared with the Multistrada V4, have been moved away, offering more room for taller riders, and for more comfort on longer journeys.

Ergonomics

The ergonomics have been mildly tweaked to make the Multistrada V2 more accessible to newer and less experienced riders, and to cater to riders of different height and build. The seat height has been reduced to 830 mm, which can be reduced to 790 mm with an optional low seat and a lowered suspension kit. The shape of the saddle has also been improved to give a flat area to offer the rider more longitudinal direction movement, and allowing anyone to find an optimal riding position.

The footpegs are shared with the Multistrada V4, and have been moved 10 mm away from the seat, to ensure enough room for taller riders, and offer better comfort on longer journeys. Overall, the new Multistrada V2 is 5 kg lighter than the Multistrada 950. The engine itself is 2 kg lighter, and various parts of the bike have been lightened, including the mirrors, shared with Multistrada V4, front disc flanges and the rims, derived also from the Multistrada V4, which are 1.7 kg lighter.

The Multistrada V2 gets the 937 cc Testrastretta L-twin engine which makes 111 bhp at 9,000 rpm with 94 Nm of peak torque at 6,750 rpm.

Engine & Performance

The Multistrada V2 is powered by the latest evolution of the 937 cc Testastretta 11-degree L-twin unit. Engine output is 111 bhp at 9,000 rpm with 94 Nm of peak torque at 6,750 rpm. The engine gets new con-rods, a new 8-disc hydraulic clutch and the gearbox has been refurbished too. Ducati recommends oil change every 15,000 km and valve clearance check every 30,000 km. The six-speed gearbox comes with a bi-directional quickshifter.

Electronics & Features

The Multistrada V2 gets a state-of-the-art electronics package, especially on the S variant, which includes cornering ABS, 8-level Ducati Traction Control, four configurable riding modes (Sport, Touring, Urban, Enduro), cornering lights, and Ducati Brake Light system, which flashes the brake light in the event of sudden braking. The Ducati Multistrada V2 S variant also gets the Ducati Skyhook electronic suspension as standard, cruise control, full-LED headlight equipped with Ducati Cornering Lights function, Ducati Quick Shift up and down, hands-free system, and a high-resolution 5-inch, full-colour TFT instrument console with backlit handlebar controls.

Suspension & Cycle Parts

Both variants are built around the same tubular streel trellis frame with a double-sided aluminium swingarm. Suspension is handled by a 48 mm Kayaba fork up front, and a monoshock rear, both offering full adjustability, with 170 mm of travel at both ends. The Multistrada V2 runs on a 19-inch front wheel, and a 17-inch rear wheel, shod with Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tyres.
