The iconic American manufacturer has launched its 2017 range of models in India. All the models will now come equipped with ABS along with minor cosmetic upgrades as well. Harley-Davidson has also launched two brand new models which are the Harley-Davidson Roadster and the Harley-Davidson Road Glide Special.
(2017 Harley-Davidson Roadster)The first brand new model is the Roadster which shares the same V-Twin 1,200cc Evolution air-cooled engine as on the 1200 Custom as well as the 48 last year. The state of tune is different though. The engine produces a peak torque of 96Nm@4,000rpm. As a policy, Harley-Davidson does not disclose the power figures of any of its motorcycles. It gets a 4-inch digital instrumentation which shows the speed, RPMs, time, trip meter, gear indicator and the other tell-tale lights. The Harley-Davidson Roadster has been priced at Rs. 9.70 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)
(2017 Harley-Davidson Road Glide Special)The other brand new model is the Road Glide Special which will feature the all-new Milwaukee Eight 107 Single Cam V-twin engine which displaces 1,745cc and produces peak torque of 150Nm@3,250rpm. It also gets a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a BOOM!TM 6.5 GT audio system along with adjustable rear suspension. The Harley-Davidson Road Glide Special has been priced at Rs. 32.81 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Both the new motorcycles will be available for purchase towards the end of this month.
Harley-Davidson's Touring Range, which consists of the Road King, Street Glide Special and the Road Glide Special, will get the all-new Milwaukee Eight engines. The Milwaukee Eight range of engines is the latest from Harley-Davidson and come in three different states of tune, with each variant producing up to 10 per cent more power that the engines they will be replacing. The engines are liquid-cooled so the heating will reduced and also they will have rubber mountings and will be counter-balanced, which mean lesser vibrations and a better ride. In fact, Harley-Davidson claims almost 75 per cent lesser vibrations. The Touring Range also gets all-new suspension components at the front and rear. The rear suspension gets emulsion-technology which offers 15 to 30 per cent more pre-load adjustment than previous standard touring shock absorbers, with a single knob to hydraulically adjust pre-load.
The Street 750 also gets cosmetic updates in the form of two new optional colour schemes; Vivid Black Deluxe and Fire Red Deluxe along with ABS and a new badge on the tank. The MY 2017 Street 750 is priced at Rs. 4,91,000.
