Hero MotoCorp Sales Cross 6 Lakh Units In May 2017

Hero MotoCorp, the world's largest two-wheeler manufacturer by volume, has yet again sold over six lakh two-wheelers in a single month, in May 2017. In all, Hero sold 6,33,884 two-wheelers in May 2017, compared to 5,83,117 two-wheelers sold in the corresponding month a year ago, registering a growth of 8.7 per cent. Hero's former partner Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) is catching up on volumes, and is the second largest two-wheeler manufacturer in India. Honda sold over 5.37 lakh two-wheelers in May 2017, with a growth of 23 per cent.
Hero hasn't published sales of scooters and motorcycles separately, but the company maintains that several new launches are planned in the immediate future, and with a forecast of normal rains this year, the industry too is expecting a boost in demand and consumption in rural markets. Hero is confident of maintaining a growth trajectory in the coming months.

Hero has as many as six new products planned to be launched in the financial year 2017-18. Of these, is the much-awaited 200 cc Hero Xtreme 200S which was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. Hero is also expected to foray into larger capacity automatic scooter segments with several new products like the Hero Dare and Hero Zir.
Hero has commenced commercial production in the manufacturing facility at its subsidiary HMCL Niloy Bangladesh Ltd. This plant, located at Jessore in Bangladesh, has an installed capacity of 150,000 vehicles per annum. This is Hero's second manufacturing facility at an overseas location. The Company, which has rapidly expanded to 35 countries across Asia, Africa and South and Central America, has its first overseas manufacturing plant at Vila Rica near Cali in Colombia, which became operational in 2015.
