Kia KY Three-Row Model's Interior Partially Revealed In New Spy Images

Kia's upcoming three-row offering, internally codenamed KY, will make its global debut in India on December 16, 2021. Likely to be called Carens, the Kia KY is expected to sport an SUV-like design. It will share its underpinning with the Seltos compact SUV. The upcoming model will be positioned below the Carnival in the South Korean carmaker's model line-up. Ahead of its official debut, the first interior images of the car have surfaced online. While we do not get a clean look at the cabin, the images hint that the model will be fairly feature-packed.

As seen in the pictures, the car comes equipped with an 8-inch infotainment system suggesting that it could be a mid-variant. We also get to see elements like a digital instrument cluster, cruise control, ambient lighting, Seltos-sourced steering wheel, and automatic climate control. Kia's next offering is likely to come in 6-seater and 7-seater configurations. The seven-seater though is likely to sport a longer wheelbase over the Seltos while borrowing design cues from the compact SUV.

As for mechanicals, the upcoming Kia KY is likely to come in both petrol and diesel options that could be borrowed from the Seltos. It will most likely come with the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel options. In Seltos, the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol mill is good for 113 bhp & 144 Nm, whereas the 1.5-litre oil burner makes 113 bhp & 250 Nm. Both the engines come paired with a 6-speed manual as standard with an optional CVT (1.5L petrol) & 6-speed AT (1.5L diesel).

The production version of the Kia KY will arrive in 2022, but an exact launch timeline is yet to be announced. Once launched, the Kia KY will compete against the Toyota Innova Crysta, Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, Maruti Suzuki XL6 and the Mahindra XUV700.
