- The Maruti Suzuki Dzire S-CNG offers a claimed mileage of 31.12 km/kg
- The Dzire S-CNG is priced from Rs. 8.14 lakh to Rs. 8.82 lakh
Maruti Suzuki India is going big on vehicles powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). In fact, it currently has the largest carpark of factory-fitted CNG models in India, equipped with the company's S-CNG technology. Now, the Indo-Japanese carmaker has launched an S-CNG version of its top-selling subcompact sedan, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire. Unlike its other CNG models, the Dzire will be offered in both the mid-spec VXI and the higher-spec ZXI trim, priced at Rs. 8.14 lakh and Rs. 8.82 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. This is the first time that the company is selling the Dzire with private buyers with a factory-fitted CNG kit, which was initially limited to the Tour S, for the fleet segment.

The Maruti Suzuki Dzire S-CNG returns a claimed mileage of 31.12 km/kg.
Launching the Dzire S-CNG, Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India, said, "With transformative technology like the S-CNG, more and more customers are actively looking to switch to S-CNG vehicles to fulfil their mobility requirements. Today, we have the largest portfolio of 9 green S-CNG vehicles. With low running costs and high fuel efficiency of S-CNG vehicles, their demand has tremendously gone up as we have witnessed a 19 per cent CAGR increase in our S-CNG sales in the past five years. This is a testimony that customers are increasingly embracing technologically advanced, eco-friendly, factory-fitted and safe Maruti Suzuki S-CNG vehicles."
Powertrain wise, the new Maruti Suzuki Dzire S-CNG comes with the same 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that makes 88.5 bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque in petrol mode. However, in CNG mode, the output drops to 76 bhp and 98.5 Nm of peak torque. The S-CNG trims of the Dzire only come with a 5-speed manual gearbox. As for fuel efficiency, the Dzire S-CNG returns a claimed mileage of 31.12 km/kg.

Maruti Suzuki India says that the S-CNG vehicle's powertrain and suspension have been specially tuned to offer better engine durability, greater mileage and superior safety. Like other S-CNG models, the Dzire S-CNG too will come with dual interdependent Electronic Control Units (ECU) and an injection system to provide an air-fuel ratio. In terms of features, the car will remain similar to the VXI and ZXI trims of the regular Dzire. The new Dzire S-CNG will also be offered via Maruti Suzuki Subscribe at an all-inclusive monthly subscription fee starting from Rs. 16 999.
