Maruti Suzuki S-Presso Starts Arriving At Dealerships Ahead Of Launch

The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is an all-new concoction from the carmaker and brings the Future S concept to life that was showcased at the Auto Expo 2019. The S-Presso is a rival to the Renault Kwid in a subsegment dubbed as the micro-SUV category. Now, ahead of its official launch on September 30, 2019, the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso has started arriving at dealerships and the model was recently spotted at a dealer yard shedding its camouflage, almost. The most spotted seems to be the entry-level variant on the S-Presso with black bumpers, door handles and black steel wheels without the wheel cover.

The spied Maruti Suzuki S-Presso does give a detailed look at the car's exterior. The front design is quite upright that lends the SUV-inspired look on the butch hatchback along with the flat bonnet, while the new four-piece grille is quite Mahindra-like in appearance. Maruti has incorporated squared headlamps and taillights for that rugged feel on the model and the recessed wheel arches, borrowed from the Wagon R, are squarish and come with body cladding that runs across the door. The raked A and C-pillar are intended to lend a taller position, which works with the tallboy stance of the hatchback. A nice touch are the rear reflectors integrated in the quarter panels of the model.

While the latest spy images do not reveal the interior, previous shots have hinted towards a centrally-mounted instrument console, a 7-inch SmartPlay Studio touchscreen infotainment system and a multi-function steering wheel to feature on the S-Presso. Given the tallboy stance, expect to see ample of headroom and legroom in the cabin. It will also be the seventh model to be based on the Heartect platform in the automaker's stable, which does promise generous width and a lightweight yet rigid construction.

Under the hood, the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso will be using a 1.0-litre three-cylinder K-Series petrol engine tuned for 67 bhp and 91 Nm of peak torque. The motor is likely to be BS6 ready upon launch and will come paired with a 5-speed manual and AMT unit. Prices are expected to be competitive on the S-Presso under Rs. 4 lakh (ex-showroom), with sales to begin by early October. The S-Presso will also lock horns against the Datsun redi-GO and the Tata Tiago in the segment.
