Maruti Suzuki Shows Strong Sales Growth Of 4.8 Per Cent In January 2018

Maruti Suzuki India Limited sold a total of 151,351 units in January 2018 thus registering a growth of 4.8 per cent over the same period of last fiscal. The total number of sales includes 140,600 units in the domestic market and 10,751 units of exports. The growth has been seen in the compact car segment as also the Utility vehicle segment.
The company has launched new cars in both these segments in 2018 and this includes the new-generation Dzire and the S-Cross facelift. The Compact car segment saw a growth of 21 per cent year on year while compared to January 2017. The mini segment which includes cars like the Alto and the Wagon R showed a drop in sales of nearly 12.28 percent when compared to the same period last year.
The Utility vehicle segment keeps showing strong growth with the Vitara Brezza leading the charge. This segment grew by 26.8 per cent by selling a total of 20,693 cars when compared to 16,313 units in January 2017. The mid-size sedan segment which has the Ciaz as a competitor de-grew by 22.5 percent and only 5062 units of the car were sold compared to 6530 units in January 2017.
Domestic sales saw a growth of 5 per cent while exports grew by 2.8 per cent year on year.
