Mercedes-Benz S-Class, SL 55, GLC And EQS Recalled In India Over Potential Fire Risk

- A total of 30 units are affected in this latest recall
- Sixth recall for Mercedes-Benz India in 2025
- Maximum units recalled for the EQS sedan
Mercedes-Benz has announced a voluntary recall of several models in India, including the S-Class (including Maybach), SL 55 AMG, GLC, and EQS sedans, due to a potential fire risk. According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the latest recall impacts a total of 30 vehicles, and this marks the sixth recall from the German automaker in 2025.

The issue stems from concerns that the fuse boxes in these vehicles may not have been properly reworked. If left unaddressed, this defect could result in system failures that affect the vehicle’s propulsion, restraint functions, and instrument cluster, potentially leading to accidents or injuries. In rare cases, the fault could also cause thermal incidents within the vehicle.

Of the 30 affected units, 16 are EQS sedans, followed by nine S-Class models, three GLCs, and two AMG SL 55 units. All were produced between July 2023 and April 2024. Mercedes-Benz is expected to reach out to the owners of these vehicles to arrange free repairs.

The latest notice follows the March 2025 recall, where Mercedes recalled seven AMG S 63 E Performance units and three AMG GT 63S 4MATIC+ E Performance units due to a potential processor overload, resulting in unexpected propulsion loss. Additional recalls this year were linked to similar fire risks, as well as issues like ECU software glitches and missing warning labels for the automatic front passenger airbag shutoff system.
