MG Astor Bookings Begin Today; Entire Batch For 2021 Sold Out

- MG has begun accepting bookings for the Astor for a token of Rs. 25,000
- Deliveries for the MG Astor will commence from November 2021
- The new MG Astor is priced between Rs. 9.78 lakh to Rs. 17.38 lakh
Morris Garages India has officially begun accepting bookings for the new MG Astor SUV, starting today, for a token of Rs. 25,000. The new smart compact SUV from the Chinese-owned British carmaker was launched earlier this month, on October 11, and MG Motor India aims to deliver around 5000 units within this year. Deliveries for the first batch will commence from November 1, 2021. The new Astor is priced in India between Rs. 9.78 lakh to Rs. 17.38 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and the SUV comes with a tonne of smart features like connected car technology, an AI-based personal assistant, several internet-based Apps and functions, and voice command. It also gets Level 2 autonomous technology which is offered as part of ADAS or Advanced Driver Assistant System.

Making the big announcement, Rajeev Chaba, President and MD, MG Motor India, said, "MG Astor is a premium mid-segment SUV with elegant exteriors, luxurious interiors, and futuristic technology. We are ecstatic about the response we have received from the customers. However, given the global chip crisis that the industry is undergoing, we can only supply a limited number of cars this year. We expect supplies to become better from Q1 next year."

MG Motor India offers the Astor in five variants - Style, Super, Smart, Sharp and the top-of-the-line Super(O) or Savvy variant. Customers can get the Astor with either a 1.5-litre Vi-Tech naturally aspirated petrol motor or with the 1.4-litre 220 Turbo petrol engine. While the former develops 108 bhp and 144 Nm of peak torque, while mated to a 5-speed manual or an optional CVT automatic unit, the turbo petrol engine is tuned to make 138 bhp and 220 Nm of peak torque and is mated to a 6-speed automatic torque converter as standard.

The MG Astor gets a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, a customised AI assistant robot, and a host of connected car features
The MG Astor gets a bunch of smart and premium features like - LED projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, 17-inch machined alloy wheels, heated ORVMs, LED taillamps and chrome accentuated dual exhaust design. As for the cabin, the MG Astor comes with 3 interior theme choices - Tuxedo Black, Iconic Ivory and Sangria Red. The SUV features a 10.1-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch instrument cluster, a multi-functional steering wheel, power-adjustable front seats, auto climate control, air-purifier, electric parking brake and a panoramic sunroof. The Astor also comes with a customised AI assistant, which understands natural language and supports up to 35 Hinglish voice commands.

As for safety, the SUV gets 27 standard safety features, which goes up to 49 features depending upon variants opted. It includes 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, traction control, hill descent control, hill hold control, Emergency Stop Signal, ISOFIX mounts, TPMS, all-disc brakes, 360-degree around-view camera, front fog lamp with Cornering Assist, read fog lamp, and more. The ADAS system is only offered with top-end Super(O) or Savvy trim, which come with either the 1.5 Vi-Tech CVT and the 1.4 220 Turbo AT drivetrains.
