New-Gen Maruti Suzuki Celerio Launched In India; Prices Start At Rs. 4.99 Lakh

The new-generation Maruti Suzuki Celerio hatchback has finally gone on sale in India today, priced between Rs. 4.99 lakh and Rs. 6.94 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This is the second-generation Celerio to be launched in India, and the car is now built on the company Heartect platform, which also underpins the new WagonR, Swift and Dzire. The new-gen Maruti Suzuki Celerio also comes with the tall claim of being India's most fuel-efficient petrol car, thanks to the new 1.0-litre Dual Jet, Dual VVT K10C engine with Idle Start-Stop technology, which helps return an ARAI certified mileage of 26.68 kmpl.

The new Celerio comes with what Maruti Suzuki calls a 3D organic sculpted design, featuring a new grille, new headlamps and new bumpes
Visually, the new-gen Maruti Suzuki Celerio come with an all-new design and styling, which the company calls - 3D organic sculpted design. So, we get to see a slightly toll-boy-ish look with a raised hood and new grille with a single chrome slat. The car also comes with new swept-back headlamps and an aggressive front bumper with black cladding and new foglamps. The Celerio also gets new body-coloured ORVMs with integrated turn signal lights, flared wheel arches, and new 15-inch Urbane black alloy wheels. At the rear, the car comes with new droplet-styled taillights, a rear windshield wiper, and a new body-coloured bumper with reflectors.

The new Maruti Suzuki Celerio measures 3695 mm in length, 1555 mm in width, 1655 mm in height, and it comes with a 2435 mm wheelbase
The Celerio will be available in 6 colours including two new shades - Solid Fire Red and Speedy Blue along with Arctic White, Silky Silver, Glistening Grey, and Caffeine Brown. In terms of dimensions, the car measures 3695 mm in length, 1655 mm in width, 1555 mm in height, and it comes with a 2435 mm wheelbase. Maruti says that the boot capacity has also been increased by 40 per cent compared to the outgoing model.

The Celerio gets a new interior with an redesigned dashboard, featuring new air-con vents and a 3-spoke tilt-adjustable steering wheel
As for the cabin, the new-gen Celerio also comes with a new all-black interior and redesigned dashboard. The car features a new three-spoke tilt-adjustable steering wheel with mounted controls for audio and telephony, a large instrument cluster an analogue speedometer and a digital rev counter. The car also gets new air-con vents with silver accents, a manual air-con system, and two ports for a 12V charger, USB and AUX-IN. At the centre, we have the 7-inch SmartPlay Studio infotainment system with smartphone navigation.

Other features on offer include - engine push start button with smart key, keyless entry, Pollen type AC filter, 60:40 split rear seats, and height-adjustable driver's seat. In terms of safety, Maruti says that the car comes with over 12 safety features, including the first-in-segment first-in-segment Hill Hold Assist function with the AGS/AMT variants. Other features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, front seat-belt reminder, high-speed alert and more.

Under the hood, the new Maruti Suzuki Celerio is equipped with a new 1.0-litre, three-cylinder Dual Jet, Dual VVT, K10C petrol engine that is tuned to develop 66 bhp and 89 Nm of peak torque. The motor comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox along with an optional AMT or AGS (Auto Gear Shift) unit. It is the VXI AGS variant that offers the highest fuel efficiency of 26.68 kmpl. The Zxi+MT trim is the least fuel-efficient variant, offering 24.97 kmpl. The new Celerio continues to complete with the likes of the Tata Tiago, Hyundai Santro and Datsun GO.
