New Mahindra Scorpio Facelift Launching on Sept 25; Bookings Open

The long wait for the much-anticipated Mahindra Scorpio facelift is set to get over on September 25, 2014 aka Day 1 of the Navratri festival. In fact, M&M dealers across the country have started taking pre-orders for the car. Existing Scorpio owners are being given priority, as the company opened bookings for them between September 15 - September 17, 2014.
The Indian SUV leader began production of the new Scorpio from August 1 since it is anticipating a high demand for the updated version of the SUV that already is the most popular SUV among masses. The company wishes to have about 5000 units of the updated Scorpio in stock before its launch, so that the customers do not have to wait for the delivery.

Talking about the changes, the updated model will have a more aggressive front-fascia with new head-lamps, revised front bumper and new grille. The SUV might get HID/projector head-lamps instead of regular bulbs. The side profile, however, is expected to remain unchanged, though the SUV will get a new set of alloy wheels.

The cabin too is expected to feature several changes, including an updated dashboard, new steering wheel, new upholstery, re-designed AC vents, thus offering a more up-market interior to its buyers. The new model may also borrow some features from the XUV500, along with a new music player with a touch-screen infotainment system.
Since it is just a mid-life makeover for the SUV, there will be no mechanical changes. It will continue to feature the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel unit and 2.5-litre m2DiCR, capable of churning out 120bhp and 75bhp, respectively.
