Key Highlights
- The Mahindra XUV500 has had quite a successful run in India.
- It still looks stylish and modern.
- It is well-equipped on the inside.
The Mahindra XUV500 has had a quite a successful run in the Indian market and helped Mahindra to build up on its urban market base. Over the years the SUV has created a niche for itself, and kind of a cult following. What was once the flagship SUV in the Indian automaker's line-up has now been replaced by the all-new Mahindra XUV700. However, if you are among those who are planning to get a used XUV500, here are few pros and cons you might want to look at.
Pros
- The Mahindra XUV500 still looks stylish and doesn't look dated. Those Cheetah-inspired design elements look cool and sporty, like the black tear duct design for the foglamps, massive grille, large projector headlamps, paw-like door handles sporty dual-tone alloys and large taillamps.
- The Mahindra XUV500's cabin looks modern. It is largely treated in black, with silver accents, and several glossy black bits. The SUV also comes with large seats upholstered in tan faux leather. It gets a power-adjustable driver seat, electric sunroof, auto-climate control, multi-function steering, and adjustable headrest for all occupants.

The Mahindra XUV500 gets an all-black cabin with silver inserts.
- It is well-loaded in the creature comforts department. The SUV gets a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with USB, AUX-IN, and Bluetooth connectivity, along with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Mahindra EcoSense App. The design of the centre console is certainly dated, and the SUV also gets an analogue twin-pod instrument cluster.
- The tried and tested 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine is powerful. It is tuned to make 153 bhp and 360 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a six-speed manual gearbox and a six-speed automatic transmission.
Cons
- The outgoing Mahindra XUV500 was offered only in the front-wheel-drive (FWD) configuration. The all-wheel-drive (AWD) system was discontinued over a year back.

The Mahindra XUV500 looks modern and stylish.shu
- The fit and finish of the Mahindra XUV500 was not the best in class. The panel gaps at some places like glovebox area and footwell area are very apparent and there is no soft touch finish on the upholstery.
- The Mahindra XUV500 has a decent resale value so expect the range-topping variant to cost around Rs. 10 lakh.
