- The MG Gloster is one of the most technologically equipped models.
- It also gets the segment-first ADAS tech.
- It is offered only with diesel powertrain options.
MG Motor India launched its flagship product, the MG Gloster back in October 2020. It is one of the most technologically equipped and feature-packed models in the full-size SUV space, and it comes with several segment-first features, including Level 1 autonomous technology. So far, the company has sold more than 3000 units in the country, with average sales of over 420 units a month. In India, it goes up against the likes of the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra Alturas G4, and Isuzu MU-X. If you are planning to buy one, here are some Pros and Cons you should look at.

Pros
- Big Footprint: The MG Gloster is huge. The SUV is almost 5 metres long, close to 2 metres wide and about 2 metres tall as well. So, road presence will never be your concern. The wheelbase itself is almost 3 metres long, which means, the SUV has enough space in the third row as well.
- Loaded With Features: Standard features will include an 8.0-inch instrument cluster, 12.3-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity, LED cabin lights, wireless charger three-zone auto climate control, captain seats, panoramic sunroof, fatigue reminder system, projector lens LED headlights, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), 18-inch alloy wheels and LED taillights.

The MG Gloster gets a nice premium-feeling interior. The only problem are the plasticy buttons and the fact that the dashboard layout look very similar to BMW SUVs.
- Safety Features: The new MG Gloster gets dual front, side and curtain airbags along with electronic stability program (ESP), traction control, roll movement intervention, hill hold control, hill descent control, and anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), brake assist, and rear disc brakes.
- ADAS Features:
- The top-of-the-line MG Gloster Savvy 2.0 Twin Turbo trim gets the advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) or level 1 autonomous driving system, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, automatic parking assist and adaptive cruise control among others.
- Connected Car Tech: The Gloster SUV comes with the iSmart 2.0 integration that gets over 70 connected car features. The connected car features on the MG Gloster is only available from Smart trim onwards.
Cons
- Expensive Propositions: The MG Gloster isn't too affordable in terms of pricing. The base Super variant of the Gloster is priced at Rs. 29.98 lakh and top-of-the-line Savvy trim costs Rs. 37.28 lakh (ex-showroom).

The 2.0-litre twin-turbo engine puts out 215 bhp and a massive 480 Nm of peak torque.
- No Petrol Engine: The MG Gloster is only offered with diesel engines. The 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo diesel engine is only available in the base Super and Smart trims and only in the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) spec. But the 2.0-litre twin-turbo powertrain is available in the Sharp and Savvy variants and gets four-wheel-drive (4WD) system as standard. Both engines are paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard. The 2.0-litre twin-turbo engine puts out 215 bhp and a massive 480 Nm of peak torque.
- Captain Seats Not Standard: Only the range-topping Sharp and Savvy trims of the MG Gloster are offered with both six-seater captain seats. The base Super and Smart trims are offered only in the seven-seater configuration.
